Throughout her career, Alpha K found solace and inspiration in her role as a worship leader at church, refining her skills as a composer and writer. Alpha K aims to touch hearts and inspire listeners with her faith-filled music.
Born in the village of Ramosadi, Mahikeng, Keitumetse Kelsy Gwanda discovered her passion for singing at a young age. She frequently sang with her friend Sue Tshikedi, using a makeshift microphone made of a maize cob. These early experiences, coupled with weekend singing competitions at her grandmother’s house with her cousins, fueled her determination to pursue a career in music. Alpha K further developed her talent by singing in the school choir and engaging in church activities.
Apart from her music career, Alpha K serves as a co-director for an educational institution, Johannesburg Polytech Institute, and is a co-pastor at Christian Bible Church.
Influenced by musical legends such as Vicky Vilakazi, Benjamin Dube, Letta Mbuli, and Caiphus Semenya, Alpha K embarked on her musical journey, creating songs that spread God’s message and offered healing to listeners. What sets Alpha K apart is her unwavering commitment to authenticity and staying true to herself. Rather than conforming to trends or commercial pressures, she embraces her unique perspective and artistic vision, carving out a distinct niche for herself and leaving a lasting impact on the music industry.
Alpha K actively engages in assisting children’s ministry, teaching them how to sing and play various instruments. She also has interests in producing and songwriting, expanding her creative endeavors further. Apart from her musical pursuits, she cherishes time with her husband and two children while continuously exploring new avenues for personal growth. Alpha K enjoys learning how to dance, even if it doesn’t come naturally to her. She also finds joy in traveling, playing tennis, and taking long walks to clear her mind from the hustle and bustle of city life.
