With a deep-rooted connection to his instrument and a divine gift for music, Sydney penned what many consider his magnum opus: “Mama’s Baby.” In 1984, he recorded the demo that would change his life forever. Three years later, in 1987, Sydney secured a recording contract. On August 30, 1989, a significant day in Sydney’s life as it was his birthday, “Mama’s Baby” was released. The album skyrocketed, selling an astounding 50,000 copies within just six months of its debut. By the end of the year, it had become a national anthem. In 1990, Sydney received the prestigious OKTV music award for “The Most Promising New Artist.”
