Bruno Mars has labelled collaborator Adele a “diva with attitude”.
The pair teamed up on song All I Ask for Adele’s most recent album 25. While the tune was a hit with fans, Bruno opened up about the challenging recording process during an interview on WTKU radio show Cubby and Carolina in the Morning on Tuesday (25Oct16).
โShe walks into the studio, sheโs got all this attitude, sheโs a diva, sheโs like, โI donโt want to do this. I donโt like that,’โ Bruno shared. โAnd then as soon as we hit a couple chords that she liked, we started rolling, and thatโs where we got that song from.”
Bruno was quick to clarify his comments, insisting that working with the 28-year-old singer was a once in a lifetime opportunity.
โShe was singing in the booth and Iโm not exaggerating at all, and the water was vibrating – like that scene in Jurassic Park,โ he gushed. “Sheโs got some pipes on her, and sheโs just a superstar.”
As well as being a successful singer in his own right, Bruno has written a huge amount of songs for his peers – including CeeLo Green’s F**k (Forget) You and Justin Bieber’s Love Me.
He may have joined forces with some of the music industry’s biggest names but there are still some stars he would like to team up with in the future.
โI havenโt done a song with Beyonce,โ he mused, before revealing Rihanna and Britney Spears as dream duet partners, adding: “Anyone who wants to work, come on down!”
One of the first times Adele performed All I Ask was during a taped concert in New York in December (15). However, she struggled to sing the track to her usual standard, telling the audience the recent surgery on her vocal cords had altered her vocal range.
“It is, itโs f***ing, itโs really hard to sing. I had vocal surgery and then suddenly I could sing higher, I could sing lower, I could do whatever you wanted me to do,” she said. “As soon as Iโm in front of you lot, I just f**k myself.”
